A UAE company and a Golden Visa serve different purposes. The company licence authorises business activities; Golden Residency is an immigration status available to eligible applicants. Buying a business setup package does not by itself establish eligibility for long-term residence.
Start with the correct residency category
ICP publishes Golden Residency routes for investors, entrepreneurs and other eligible categories. Dubai applications also involve GDRFA’s published services. Entrepreneur applications depend on the nature of the project, the supporting evidence and the relevant approval or nomination requirements. Category descriptions and requirements can differ between official service pages, so confirm the exact route before paying an application fee.
Do not use a salary threshold from a professional category, a property threshold from an investor category or an old entrepreneur project-value figure interchangeably. Ask which category is proposed, which authority will decide it and which official requirements the application is intended to meet.
Build an evidence pack around the project
A useful first review describes the business in practical terms: what it sells, its development stage, who owns it and why it fits the proposed category. Organise existing company and project records before commissioning additional reports.
- Current passport and UAE identity or residence documents, where applicable.
- Incorporation, licence and ownership documents for the relevant business.
- A concise explanation of the project, business model and the applicant’s role.
- Financial or project evidence requested for the selected route.
- Any required authority, incubator, auditor or other approved-body documentation.
- Family relationship documents if dependent applications are also planned.
This is a preparation checklist, not a substitute for the authority’s category-specific document list. An endorsement, valuation or nomination should come from the body accepted for that application.
Plan the application in stages
First establish the category and evidence requirements. Next resolve gaps in the documents, including any translation or attestation requested. Submit through the applicable official service or an authorised channel, respond to queries and complete the required residence formalities. Keep a record of every reference number, receipt and decision.
Allow time for document preparation separately from government processing. Existing visa status, travel plans, medical screening and identity procedures can affect the sequence. A consultant should explain these dependencies rather than promise a fixed approval date.
Understand the costs and family arrangements
Request an itemised quote separating professional support from government application charges, medical or identity services, insurance and dependent applications. Confirm what is payable if an application requires more evidence or is not approved. A quote should identify which services are included and which are paid to another provider.
Golden Residency can offer family sponsorship benefits under the applicable rules. Each family member’s documentation, insurance and immigration status still needs review. Do not assume that approval of the principal application automatically completes all dependent formalities.

Does every entrepreneur qualify?
No. Business ownership alone is insufficient. The applicant must satisfy the selected category and the authority must approve the application.
Is the term always the same?
Use the term shown for the exact category and service being applied for. Official Golden Residency guidance describes long-term categories, but an older article or a different emirate’s service should not be used as an individual approval promise.
